Ananda College continues to make remarkable progress in enhancing its sports facilities and promoting excellence in student athletics. On June 26, 2025, the College received a generous donation of 50 shuttle barrels from Douglas and Sons. This contribution will significantly support the training needs of the badminton team and help raise the standard of practice sessions. In addition to this, Douglas and Sons has committed to providing a further 150 shuttle barrels over the course of the year, ensuring continued and consistent support.
This initiative was made possible through the coordination and support of General Kamal Gunaratne, whose efforts were instrumental in facilitating the donation. His assistance also extended to the improvement of the college’s badminton court, helping to create a more professional and suitable training environment for the players.
The Principal of Ananda College, Mr. D.M.L.P Dissanayake, played a leading role in driving these developments forward. Under his guidance, the College has continued to prioritize sports as a vital part of holistic student development, and he has actively supported efforts to enhance the standard of facilities and opportunities available to students.
Earlier this year, in January 2025, the Ananda College Badminton Indoor Stadium was upgraded at a cost of 3.5 million rupees. The facility was fully carpeted and officially handed over to the players, representing a major milestone in the College’s commitment to developing high-quality sports infrastructure for its students.
Ananda College extends its sincere appreciation to Douglas and Sons, General Kamal Gunaratne, and Principal Lal Dissanayake for their outstanding contributions and unwavering support in uplifting the standard of badminton at the College and empowering the next generation of student athletes.
