A special education programme on traffic management and road safety was held at Ananda College on 11 July 2025, drawing the participation of over 2000 enthusiastic Anandians. The event, organized on the college premises, was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of the Traffic Management and Road Safety Division, Mr. Indika Hapugoda, and Director of the Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Manoj Ranagala.
This important awareness initiative was arranged following a request by Ananda College Principal, Mr. D. M. L. P. Dissanayake, with the objective of educating students on the importance of road safety and encouraging responsible behavior in traffic environments. The programme was generously sponsored by Fairfirst Insurance Pvt Ltd.
The programme commenced with a live demonstration presented by Sub-Inspector Dayal Kariyawasam, who engaged the entire student audience with clear explanations of various traffic situations. The demonstration vividly illustrated real-life scenarios to emphasize safe road practices and highlight common mistakes made by road users.

Following the demonstration, the final segment of the programme featured a comprehensive seminar on road safety conducted by Inspector Ravin Sumanarathna, Officer in Charge of the Education Division, Traffic Headquarters. The seminar covered a range of essential topics including:
• Duties and responsibilities of pedestrians
• Correct methods of crossing roads safely
• Road safety practices for cyclists and three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) users
The management of Ananda College expressed deep appreciation to the Traffic Management and Road Safety Division for their dedication and efforts in conducting this timely and impactful programme.
