Ananda College Athletes to Represent Sri Lanka at the World Junior Athletics Championship 2024

Ananda College is proud to announce that three of our outstanding athletes have qualified to represent Sri Lanka at the World Junior Athletics Championship 2024, which will be held in Peru. This remarkable achievement reflects their dedication, hard work, and the exceptional training and support provided by our college sports facilities.

The athletes who have earned this prestigious honor are:

Meron Wijesinghe – Competing in the 100m event.
Indusara Widushan – Competing in the 200m event.
Lesandu Arthawidu – Competing in the high jump event.

These talented young athletes have not only qualified for the world stage but have also showcased their prowess at the National Athletics Championship. Each of them secured second place in their respective events, demonstrating their competitiveness and skills against the nations best.

Meron Wijesinghe sprinted his way to the silver medal in the 100m event. His explosive speed and unwavering determination have made him a standout athlete, and we are confident that he will make us proud on the global stage.
Indusara Widushan displayed incredible speed and endurance to secure second place in the 200m event. His commitment to excellence and relentless training regimen have paid off, earning him a well-deserved spot on the national team. His achievement is a new junior national record.

Lesandu Arthawidu soared to new heights in the high jump, claiming the silver medal at the National Athletics Championship. His remarkable technique and athleticism have distinguished him as one of the top young high jumpers in the country.

The achievements of Meron, Indusara, and Lesandu are a testament to their hard work, the guidance of their teachers in charge, coaches, and the unwavering support of their families and the Ananda College management and community. As they prepare to compete against the best young athletes from around the world, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.
