Ananda College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Ramiru Thehan Wijayasiriwardhane, a Grade 10 student, who showcased his brilliance on a global stage at the prestigious Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2024. Held in Brunei from December 4 to 7, the event brought together top talents from 17 Asia-Pacific nations, including Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Competing against these top talents in the Senior Students Category, Ramiru secured a Merit Award, bringing immense pride to both Ananda College and Sri Lanka.
APICTA, widely regarded as one of the most esteemed ICT competitions in the region, was established to foster collaboration and elevate technological standards among member countries. The platform recognizes exceptional talent across students, professionals, and organizations in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
For the 2024 edition of APICTA, Sri Lanka nominated only four students, including Ramiru from Ananda College, following a several rounds of rigorous selection process judged by ICT professionals from the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), and the Ministry of Education.
Ramiru’s achievement is not only a reflection of his individual talent but also a significant milestone for the ICT landscape at Ananda College. It underscores the immense potential of young Anandians and the Ananda College's commitment to fostering ICT education.
Let us celebrate this remarkable victory, which has firmly placed Ananda College on the global technology map. Together, we will continue to nurture our young talents, paving the way for a brighter, tech-driven future!
