Ananda College takes immense pride in celebrating Victory Beyond Borders – Thehas Kiringoda Clinches Sri Lanka’s Top Youth Chess Title

Thehas Rithmitha Kiringoda, a young chess prodigy whose brilliance continues to illuminate the national and international chess arenas.

Born in 2014, Thehas is not only a beacon of promise in Sri Lanka’s chess future but a living testament to the values of discipline, perseverance, and excellence nurtured here at Ananda College. At just 11 years old, he has already earned the prestigious title of “Most Outstanding Youth Chess Player of the Year” at the Sri Lanka National Chess Excellency Awards 2025 — a recognition reserved for the very best in the sport

Despite his young age, Thehas has already triumphed on global platforms, earning accolades at the World Schools Chess Championship in Greece, clinching silver at the Asian Youth Championship, and taking gold at the Commonwealth Rapid Chess Championship. His fearless approach to the game and unwavering focus have earned him respect from chess masters around the world.

But beyond the trophies and titles, Thehas is a proud Anandian — a student who embodies our school’s spirit of wisdom, courage, and vision. Guided by a deep passion for the game and the support of mentors, coaches, and family, he stands as a role model for all his peers.

Ananda College recognizes and celebrates Thehas not only for his unparalleled talent but for the inspiration he brings to our entire community. He reminds us that age is no barrier to greatness — and that with dedication, humility, and heart, even the youngest Anandian can conquer the world.

We wish Thehas continued success as he pursues his dream of becoming Sri Lanka’s first Grandmaster — a dream that began within the halls of Ananda.

We deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of his coaches, the Masters-in-Charge, and especially our Principal, whose guidance, encouragement, and reinforcement have paved the way for this incredible victory. We also extend heartfelt thanks to his devoted parents and well-wishers, whose love and support continue to empower this young champion.

Well done, Thehas. The whole Ananda family stands with you, proud and inspired.
