Ananda College Lifesaving Team Joins 2025 Poson Pilgrimage Safety Mission in Anuradhapura

The Ananda College Lifesaving Team took part in the 2025 Poson safety operations held near the Basawakkulama reservoir in Anuradhapura on June 9th and 10th. These operations were part of a broader initiative to ensure the safety of thousands of pilgrims visiting the sacred city during the annual Poson festival.

The team, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication, successfully rescued 13 individuals who encountered danger while bathing or swimming in the reservoir. Their timely actions prevented potential loss of life and emphasized the critical importance of trained lifesaving personnel during mass public events.

This commendable effort was carried out under the guidance of the Master-in-Charge, Mr. M.J. Pushpakumara, whose commitment and mentorship have been pivotal in building and sustaining the college’s lifesaving program. Supporting him was Mr. Janaka Priyantha, whose assistance and supervision also contributed greatly to the success of the mission.
