Ananda College Celebrates Unprecedented Success in 2023 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination

Ananda College proudly celebrates its highest achievements in recent years with the extraordinary success of its students in the 2023 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination. A total of 179 boys achieved 3A passes, with an impressive 82% qualifying for university entrance. This milestone underscores the relentless dedication and hard work of our students and faculty.

To honour these remarkable achievements, a special event was organized, graced by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga, as the chief guest. The event began with a solemn religious ceremony organized by the Buddhist Society, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection for the success attained.

Following the ceremony, a grand celebration ensued, marked by the cutting and sharing of a huge celebration cake among the students who excelled in the exams and the rest of the school community. The joyous atmosphere was heightened by the presence of the Old Boys Association, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in the school’s achievements. The Association generously made cash donations to the top performers, including Charith Irodha, who ranked first island-wide in the Physical Science section, and Irosha Perera, who secured the first place in the Colombo District and sixth place island-wide in the Engineering Technology stream. The head prefect, Minindu Anupama who also achieved 3A passes while making significant contributions to the school, was similarly honoured.

Representatives from the Bank of Ceylon and People’s Bank participated in the event, further enriching the celebration with their presence and generosity. They too provided cash donations to the outstanding students, recognizing and rewarding their hard work and dedication.

This celebratory event not only acknowledged the academic excellence of our students but also highlighted the strong support network of alumni, financial institutions, and the entire Ananda College community, all contributing to this success.
